1st GRIMSBURY GROUP EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

Message from the Group Chairman

Many thanks to all that came out to collect with Santa's Float. We have raised £400.20 which will be match funded by Tony and RAC to the tune of £350, making a total of £750.20.

Thanks also to all the bag packers at Sainsbury's, here we raised £638.00 which we hope will also be match funded.

Thanks to the hard work with fundraising, we are able to pay the capitation fee of £25 for each of the young people and leadership team. which is due at the end of January. Capitation is our annual membership fee payable to the Scout Association to cover insurance and the running of the Association

Best wishes Jackie

So what is a Group Executive Committee?

The Group Executive Committee (GEC) exists to support the Group Scout Leader in the meeting the responsibilities of their appointment.  The Committee is responsible for:

  • the maintenance of the Group's property and equipment;
  • the raising of funds and the administration of the Group's finance;
  • the insurance of persons, property and equipment;
  • Group public occasions; and
  • assisting with the recruitment of Leaders and other adult support

The GEC consists of some people who are members because of their position (ex-officio members), these are:

  • Group Scout Leader - Nick Bisson
  • Group Chairperson - Jackie Tinkham
  • Group Treasurer -
  • Group Secretary - Rebecca Oliver
  • All Section Leaders - Alex Lyczkowski, Tony Tinkham and Sue Lyczkowski

In addition to the ex-officio members, there are three other groups of people who may be members of the GEC:

  • elected members - these are elected by the Group Council at the Annual General Meeting and there are normally four to six of them
  • nominated members - these are nominated by the Group Scout Leader in consultation with the Group Chairperson at the Annual General Meeting and there must be no more than the number of elected members;
  • co-opted members - these are co-opted by the GEC and there must be no more than the number of elected members

Ideally there should be a parent from each Section in the Group on the Executive Committee
